9e Conférence Internationale sur la LIBS
La communauté LIBS française, dont l'iLM, organise la 9e Conférence Internationale sur la LIBS.
Pour la première fois depuis sa création en 2000, la conférence internationale sur la LIBS est organisée par la communauté LIBS française. Du 12 au 16 septembre prochain, le monde de la LIBS se réunira face au Mont Blanc pour cette rencontre au sommet de la science et de la technologie. C’est à la fois une consécration et un défi pour notre communauté nationale d’accueillir et de réussir cet événement. La consécration d’abord pour une activité LIBS française reconnue parmi les leaders mondiaux, aussi bien en recherche fondamentale que dans les secteurs industriels et socio-économiques, et pour une tradition de performance dépassant le domaine spécifique de la LIBS. Les applications nucléaires et la participation au projet ChemCam avec un instrument LIBS sur Mars, sont des exemples emblématiques de l’excellence française dans ce domaine. Le défi ensuite, car la LIBS entre dans une phase déterminante de sa longue marche vers une technique analytique mature et majeure. Cette phase verra se concrétiser les avancées fondamentales acquises en laboratoire en de nombreuses applications, à travers des nouveaux besoins exprimés notamment par les pays émergents en matière d’environnement, d’énergie, d’industrialisation … « Du plasma laser aux analyses », le slogan choisi pour la conférence est le parfait reflet de notre volonté de marquer cet évènement. Ce faisant, nous offrons également une vitrine à la France scientifique et technologique bien au-delà de la LIBS elle-même. Nous donnons donc rendez-vous très bientôt à Chamonix-Mont-Blanc à tous ceux qui s’intéressent à la LIBS, à ses applications et à son avenir !

9th International LIBS Conference
LIBS french community organises the 9th International LIBS conférence.
After the LIBS 2014 conference in Beijing, where more than 360 attendees from 35 countries all around the world have taken part, the French LIBS community in its whole is honored to host the conference and register the name of the city of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc beside those of the cities which have served as the venue of the event, namely Pisa, Orlando, Malaga, Montreal, Berlin, Memphis, Luxor, and Beijing! Each of these cities sounds, for a LIBS scientist or engineer, like a milestone in the history of the development of the technique.
The French LIBS community commits all its efforts to make the Chamonix conference another great success. “From laser plasmas to analyses” is the guiding thread of the conference, because between the science and the technology, there is knowledge to be elaborated and expertise to be shared! “From laser plasmas to analyses” is the link between the attendees, because the maturity of an analytical technique requires the efforts from a multidisciplinary scientific and technological community! The LIBS technique is facing a historic turning point.
The driving forces come from the advance of the fundamental research, constantly pushing our knowledge beyond the limits, as well as the emergence of the new applications, made necessary day after day by the societal progress which expects a more sustainable development. By hosting the conference in such circumstance, the French LIBS community is aware of the importance of the task to answer the inspiration of the international LIBS scientific and technological community, which is indeed its deep motivation in organizing the event.
On behalf of the organizing committee, we warmly welcome you, LIBS scientist, LIBS engineer or technician, student, or simply interested by the technique, to take part in this unique meeting with your enthusiasm to develop, your desire to apply and your willingness to mature the LIBS technique.
