Optomechanics, as the name suggests, is concerned with the coupling between a mechanical degree of freedom and light. We will focus here on the motion of a colloid in an optical trap, which will enable us to illustrate some experimental stochastic thermodynamics results (shortcut to adiabaticity, first passage time). Finally, we'll consider how to interrogate the quantum limit of this system using an optically trapped supercrystal self-assembled from quantum dots.
