Photocatalysis

PhD students:
Photocatalysis is entirely connected with the interaction between light and matter. The absorption of light generates charge carriers in the material that are able to interact with the environment when they reach the surface. It addresses thus societal sectors such as Energy (water splitting:conversion of water to hydrogen and oxygen), Health (decontamination, sterilization) and self-cleaning. The Luminescence group is particularly involved in photo-conversion of the sun light into "more efficient photons", as well as in the colloidal synthesis of 2D materials and heterostructures.
