Presentation:
Our platform provides access to academic and non-academic users. It is part of the PEPR LUMA ULTRAFAST platform infrastructure that provides support to academic users.
X-2M provides an ensemble of beamlines dedicated to the use of extreme light for the study of dynamics and structure of gas phase and solid state targets. The beamlines are covering a wide spectral domain from the terahertz to the soft X-ray with pulse durations from nanosecond to attosecond, including high repetition rate light sources.
Our beamlines accommodate various sources of samples allowing us to work with atomic and molecular gases in neutral and ionic form, as well as solids in the form of thin films, bulk materials, powders etc.
Divers detection schemes are implemented on our beamline allowing us to perform mass-spectrometry, angular resolved photoelectron and photoion energy spectra (VMI) and reflexion/transmission measurements.
The platform benefits from the unique expertise of the DYNAMO group on several differentiating techniques:
- InfraRed Multiple Photon Dissociation (IRMPD) coupled with ion separation techniques such as Liquid Chromatography (LC) to study the structure of complex molecules and complex samples.
- Coupling Electro Spray Ionization sources (ESI-MS) and pump-probe schemes to study complex molecular ions with light ranging from the InfraRed to Extreme Ultra-Violet.
- Broadband ultrashort terahertz pulse generation and detection from 1THz to 30THz for the study of biomolecular crystals and solid materials.
We present below a non exhaustive list of our state-of-the-art light sources, detectors and techniques available in our platform :
