FIELD EMISSION

Field emission is a phenomenon that is of interest both from the fundamental point of view (this technique allowed for the first time to "see" atoms in 1956 through the work of EW Muller) and for applications such as CRT displays (ie those before the flat screens), radio frequency amplifiers or electron microscopes.

Our group develop a strong research axe in field emission in order to :

  • characterize  the electrical, thermal, mechanical and optical properties (voir schéma ci-dessous) of nano-objects such as nanowires and nanotubes..
  • develop new electron sources for industrial applications such as flat displays and UV lighting.
